Songs About The Đurumlije in Music Education

Authors: Naka Nikšić, Ph.D.

From 1915 to 1918, the Bosniaks of the Sanjak of Novi Pazar left in an organized fashion to multiple fronts to defend the Ottoman Empire. They were between the ages of 18 and 50 and were known as volunteer fighters or đurumlije, and that very event today is known as ‘going to join the đurumlije’ or odlazak u đurumlije.
