Başak Akar Özer completed her BA degree in Political Sciences and Public Administration at Ankara University in 2008. She continued her academic journey at the same university, joining the interdisciplinary Socioeconomic Development and Biotechnology programme offered by the Biotechnology Institute. There, she earned both her MSc and Ph.D. Seeking to broaden her expertise, she pursued a second Ph.D. in Political Science and Public Administration at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor in the Political Science and Public Administration Department at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Her research focuses on cultural studies, nationalism, biopolitics, and medical biotechnology policies.
